Ingmar Bergman was one of the great masters of modern cinema. He is a cornerstone in many of my film classes. One of my first experiences with film that guided me towards film studies was watching The Seventh Seal. Never was a game of chess so important. It is a sad day that such a great filmmaker has passed on. Personally, I rank him right up there with my favorite director, Akira Kurosawa. Even though they may be gone, their influence will last and be reflected in films to come.
