Web 2.0 and How I Just Want to Play

I’ve been amused with many of the new Web 2.0 apps, including SocialThing and Swurl. I like the idea of being able update everything at once rather than grind it out between Twitter, Pownce, and Plurk. So essentailly, I like to play. I know so many people that just look at me funny when I mention all of these, but there is this tiny part of me that just wants to see what all the fuss is about. While I hang on to some, I let others go. For example, Plurk is a neat idea but I can’t stand that you get Karma points for posting and commenting. I do not want to be tracked in my posting. I have no goal of getting a neat new background when my Karma is high enough. SocialThing was neat for a bit, until I found Swurl. Although SocialThing supports Pownce, Swurl does not. But Swurl supports WordPress and SocialThing does not.

I think I may be getting to the point that the good apps are the ones I keep using. I guess that goes without saying though, obviously my Karma at Plurk will suffer. So when is it too much? When have we reached the social limit of Web 2.0? I’m sure that one day a new app will emerge and I will try it. I am also sure that eventually the world will end. If it does, where should I blog about it and should I change my status on Facebook to “Gone Fishing” or “Oh damn…”
